Benefits of Membership

Joining the RZS NSW

The Royal Zoological Society of New South Wales offers membership to people who are  interested and willing to support the objectives of the Society.

There are two categories of general membership: Scientific or Ordinary. Those people with specific scientific research backgrounds or interests may apply to become a Scientific Member. Anyone with an interest in native Australasian wildlife and their survival may apply to become an Ordinary Member.

The Society also offers Student and Junior membership.

Membership of the Society is governed under the Society's constitution.

Benefits

The benefits of membership include:

  • The ability to interact with zoologists from Australia and around the world (e.g. at the monthly Wildlife at the Watering Hole events)
  • Discounted registration fees for all RZS NSW symposia, forums and other events
  • Ability to apply for grants including the Ethel Mary Read Research Grant and the Paddy Pallin Research Grant.
  • Full and open access to Australian Zoologist, the oldest Australian journal of zoology (optional at a cost).
  • Personal (non-transferable) pass giving free entry at Taronga and Western Plains Zoos*

* Access to Taronga and Western Plains Zoo is an added benefit that the Society is able to offer to our members due to our long and robust relationship with Taronga Conservation Society Australia. Access to the zoo is not in any way under the control of RZS NSW, can be withdrawn at any time, and should not be the primary reason for joining the Society.
